Connecticut law gives you the right to have damage appraisals made to your vehicle by the facility or person of your choice.
State law also stipulates that you have the right to choose who makes repairs to your vehicle, including glass repairs and/or replacement. Insurance companies often recommend one or more specific firms or individuals, but they cannot require you to use them.
Moreover, if another motorist caused your accident, his or her insurance company must pay you loss-of-use compensation whether or not you incur rental expenses while your vehicle is out of service. This right is clearly stated in a bulletin issued by the Connecticut Insurance Department. We have a copy on file and will be glad to show it to you.
